Procrastination is the enemy of the 12-hour week
There is one thing you need - without it, this system won't work
If you can eliminate procrastination, you’re well on your way to getting there.
I would never have gotten down to working 12 hours a week, if I hadn’t figured out I needed to do one thing.
It’s kind of doh! thing actually.
But for me… well, the thought didn’t really occur to me.
Freedom is everything
I had quit my day job in 1995.
I enjoyed my freedom. I wanted to do whatever I felt like that day.
That’s freedom, right?
If I had a book to write, then I did that. In fact, to hit the deadlines, I would also write books on days I didn’t feel like it. These days, I interrupted the work often by checking my emails…
With my joy of freedom, I didn’t restrict myself.
Planning, I figured, would be too much constraint.
Bad choice
That lack of planning resulted in one thing: lots of wasted time.
Time wasted, staring at my screen, thinking: what should I do today?
Time wasted, doing other things like checking my email, going to Facebook (that was back then), watching a video…
Even though I worked around 15 hours per day, 7 days a week, I could have condensed my “work” into 2-3 hours per day.
Slowly, I figured out a system that worked for me.
Find your system
You need to find the system that work for you. I’ll tell you what I’ve tried over the years, though.
Scheduling hour by hour as recurring entries in my calendar (didn’t work)
Writing down 3 things to do the same morning (didn’t work - it took me hours to write down those 3 things)
Scheduling broad strokes as recurring entries in my calendar (didn’t work)
The system that works for me know is simple.
Here’s my working system
Every Sunday, I plan which info products I’m going to promote that week.
Then I add one big thing I must do that week. It can be write a PLR bundle or work on a course.
That’s it. Job done. After that, I go doing something interesting, playful and relaxing.
Nothing in my method to work only 12 hours a week would function without planning.
Nothing.
Believe me, I’ve tried. ;)
I love this streamlined approach. THanks for sharing and looking forward to the next issue!
I think that I'm going to like this a lot. I can't wait until the next issue.
